In the Know // January Edit
My whole goal with this blog is creating a space to help you stay in the know. Welcome to the monthly edit. A place to find fun and exciting things happening in St. Louis, a look at what I’m loving and a place to round up the stuff you might have missed scrolling on your feed. I love reading monthly round ups and this is my version of what I’m loving, reading, buying and doing!
In the Know // January Edit
WHAT I’M LOVING:
Anyone else feel like January last 97 days? From snow days to sickness to a non-stop news cycle, it feels like it’s been a bit never ending. But I’ve found a few things that helped make life easier this month.
Disney Story Time on Spotify: These are shorter versions of your child’s favorite movies. Perfect for the ride to school.
A new cold brew: I love iced coffee even in the winter but I am also trying to reel in my coffee budget. I found these La Colombe cans at Schnucks and instantly purchased on Amazon. They’re delicious.
Frisco Train Store: I’ve had this spot on my list forever but finally visited this month and what a gem for the little train lover in your life! Larger post to come, but you can play all afternoon with the train sets for a donation.
WHAT I’M READING:
If you know, you know. This month meant the release of Onyx Storm and I am currently re-reading Iron Flame (book number two in the dragon romance series). I can’t wait to dive into book three.
Power Pause: This book is changing the game when it comes to women who want to reshape what career and motherhood looks like in society. I cannot wait to dive into it. I heard the author speak at an event and was so inspired!
Substacks: Have you gotten into Substack? Am I the last to know? I started following a few of my favorite bloggers and creators and I am loving this longer form content.
News about development: St. Louis is on the rise. From forward momentum with the Millenium Hotel site in Downtown St. Louis, to much needed safety improvements near Ted Drewes and a new skyline taking shape in the Central West End.
FAVORITE SIPS AND BITES:
You know you can always count on me to share the best spots to eat and drink in St. Louis and this month was no different. We tried a few new to us spots, plus dined at old favorites. Here are some of the best of January.
Tacos from Tacos La Jefe - OMG. How have I waited so long? We tried them at Third Degree Glass Third Fridays but you can find them at Urban Eats in South St. Louis
Kung Pao Shrimp at ChiliSpot: Another place that’s been on my list forever. Spicy and delicious.
Cocktails at Esca: Esca is a fantastic spot for dinner but it’s equally perfect for a night cap. Grab a spot at the bar and get a few drinks.
Chilispot is a must visit spot on Olive in University City
WHAT I BOUGHT:
My favorite purchase this month we’re more on the practical side. I got a new pair of warm gloves which work so well for the price! Plus I got a FitBit which has been really nice in helping me reach my daily movement goals. It helps ensure I don’t just “think” I’m hitting my step count.
WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO:
Lots of exciting new restaurants opening soon including Flight Club in Clayton (a dart lounge and restaurat) and Great Heart Brewing in Olivette.
Warm weather vacations: We are going to Mexico, Gulf Shores AL and Florida in the next two months and I can’t wait to feel sand in my toes. Now I just need to find some swimsuits that fit…where are we shopping these days?
Animals Aglow returns to the St. Louis Zoo in March! It was such a fun event last year. Tickets are already on sale.
